Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Rope Lounge? The Rope Lounge is an unsupervised open forum (otherwise known as a 'Rope Share') for individuals and partners to come practice their rope skills, and socialize with others in a safe and welcoming environment.
In other words, think of it as Dojo, a space that is meant for learning, experimental learning and practice. What is a Rope Workshop?Unlike the Rope Lounge, the workshops are instruction-based and centered around education of various techniques for tying intricate patterns and designs with rope, often focusing on feel, aesthetics, control, and safety. Can I come alone?Yes, you can come alone. You might find someone to tie with (or tie you) if you want - or you might not. There are several attendees who come alone. Your best bet is to make plans before the event and bring a partner (or tying buddy). Can I just watch? If you're new to kink or rope, things can be a bit overwhelming. Sitting back and watching is a great way to understand more about the dynamics and possibilities of rope. Feel free to just watch, though make sure to keep your distance and not interrupt any interactions. Even if a tie is finished, the person/people involved might still need some downtime for aftercare. Can I take photos?Photography is fine as long as it’s with permission of the people involved. Please make sure you have permission before you post anything. If people are in the background with identifying features (faces, tattoos, etc.) please ask them before posting as well, most people will just ask you to blur them out.Should I buy rope before coming to an event? We suggest waiting on buying rope until after your first event. We have communal rope to borrow, and have rope for sale, and it'll be a lot cheaper than what's available at sex shops (and more suitable than what you'd get at a hardware store). We’re also happy to recommend other rope vendors. You're not going to miss out on anything if you come to an event without rope. What is the dress code?We have a fully clothed policy. This is to ensure that everyone feels as comfortable as possible while in the space and practicing. That said, we recommend athleisure wear, it’s readily available, affordable and good for almost all occasions when it comes to tying. Can I eat in the lounge? We plan to keep the lounge as crumb free as possible, so if you bring food or beverages, please consume them in the kitchen area.
